Hometown Kyle · Kyle, Texas · Concrete patios

Concrete patios in Hometown Kyle. Builder patios, made big enough to use.

Most homes in Hometown Kyle were built between 2004 and 2016 by Ryland Homes and Pulte Homes. They came with the small concrete pad most builders pour off the back door: big enough for a grill, not for a table.

That is the project we see most here. Owners want the patio doubled, leveled and finished, and many of the original pads have started to crack or settle after years on clay.

Slope away from the house

Every patio we pour in Hometown Kyle, Kyle falls away from the house, so rain leaves the back door and heads for the yard.

What we see in Hometown Kyle backyards

Builder patios from this era are often thin, poured on minimal base, and sized to the minimum. On expansive clay that adds up to hairline cracks becoming wide ones, and a pad that slowly tips toward the house.

Lots are suburban sized, so a good layout matters. We plan the patio so it leaves usable lawn and keeps a clear path to the side gate.

Hometown Kyle soil and water

Kyle sits on the line where Blackland Prairie clay meets the limestone edge of the Hill Country. Much of the town is on dark expansive clay that swells after rain and shrinks and cracks in a dry summer. Some lots hit caliche or rock close to the surface. We check which one your yard is on before we quote.

Downspouts on many of these homes empty right beside the patio. When we rebuild, we look at where that roof water lands so the new slab does not sit in it.

Common Hometown Kyle projects

  • Tear-out and rebuild, doubled. Remove the builder pad and pour a patio sized for a table and seating.
  • New patio beside the pad. Extending the original slab when it is still in good shape.
  • Stamped finishes. Turning a plain gray patio into the look of stone.
  • Patio under a new cover. A slab planned for a future pergola or patio cover.

HOA approval. Like most master-planned communities, Hometown Kyle has guidelines for backyard changes. Larger patios and finish changes may need approval, so we give you a drawn layout and finish details to submit.

Can you keep my builder patio and add on to it?

If the original pad is level and not cracked across, we can extend it and join the two properly. If it is cracked or sloped toward the house, starting over usually costs less in the long run.

How big can my patio be?

That depends on your lot, setbacks and HOA rules. We mark it out on the lawn at the assessment so you can see the size before anything is poured.
